How cutting the cord still gets me channels I want. Legally.

Cable’s expensive. While they typically offer an introductory rate, it’s usually for one year and has to be bundled with another service. As for me, there’s tons of channels I don’t want, and I’m always looking to save money. So instead of forking out lots of money every month to a cable company for tons of channels I don’t want, here’s what I’m doing instead. If you’re looking to save money, yet still enjoy watching TV, keep reading…

Get Some Rest!

Your alarm goes off in the morning. Instead of getting up right away, you keep hitting “snooze” until having just twenty minutes remaining before you have to leave for work. Going to bed late the night before leaves you feeling worn out as you crawl out of bed. You make yourself presentable and grab a few snacks before heading out the door while on an empty stomach. You think you’re calm, yet having to race to work while praying the traffic lights play nice frustrates you.

A year in review: in 1000 words or less.

Well, this has certainly been a year to remember! A year filled with positive changes, lots of fun and quality time spent with my family and friends, personal growth, and experiencing God’s faithfulness, just to name a few. I’ll try to come up with a few adjectives and bullet points as I provide a (hopefully) brief recap of some of the bigger highlights from this past year, regardless of whether or not you’ve been playing along.

Whoa-oah, we’re halfway there!

As you know from my previous post, I’m on a fitness journey. I started on 5/24 at 234.50 and I reached my first goal of 215 on 9/1. Well, this morning I reached another goal! This one’s a biggie. No, a milestone. I finally broke the 200 threshold!!! I am now at 198.40!!

Fitness: can’t stop, won’t stop.

I know, it’s been a long time since I’ve written anything, but a friend encouraged me to share some exciting news. Since May 24th, I have lost over 25 pounds!! I started at 234.5, am 208.8 as I write this, but I am NOT done yet! I have NOT arrived and I am FAR from finished, actually. I’m very excited at the progress I’ve made so far. How have I been able to do this? I’m glad you asked! But let’s start from the very beginning, a very good place to start.

In hindsight: that really wasn’t all that healthy.

At the end of April I left my previous job of four years. The money was amazing, I liked a lot of my coworkers, and management was very supportive and generous. But the job was so stressful. I was angry, irritated, fed up, burned out, and miserable. I dreaded going into work everyday. I would stress eat on many days. Sometimes multiple times a day. It really wasn’t all that healthy. It caused me to gain a lot of weight. The money may have been good, but the environment was toxic.

Amateur Youtuber

Three months ago I embarked on a project: create my own Youtube show. There are a countless number of original creator-driven shows on Youtube, so what would I do differently? I created a retro video game review show. I love old video games, which is why I really enjoy watching content from such channels as LGR, Gaming Historian, and NintendoLife.

Goodbye Old, Hello New!

I haven’t written a post in a while, so I figured I should write a little update on what’s going on. At the end of April I left my position at a financial institution after having working there for four years. It was bittersweet, but I’m glad I left. The company was great to work for, very generous and gracious towards me, but there was nothing else I wanted to do there, but for a while I knew I wouldn’t be working there for much longer. More on that later in this post.

Want more fulfillment at your job? Start leading.

I’ve been working in sales for a financial institution for nearly four years, and while it’s the best company I’ve ever worked for (so far) and I’m consistently producing great results, there are days where I wish I would have stayed in bed, even though I am extremely grateful for my job and the company I work for.

Lights Out at Midnight!

On Saturday night, the electric company chose to perform some required maintenance in our area, but at midnight! The maintenance was estimated to take up to two hours. Now keep in mind, we’re in the middle of a very cold winter. Even with plastic covering my window and patio door and the heat turned on full blast, there are times where it doesn’t feel like any heat is coming out of the vent.
